In a way, the lack of "computer" solves a problem in our household - data curation. We have photos & music spread across multiple machines, and the last thing we need is more digital chaos. The iPad as a "wing" of the main computer is a very effective solution, but I sure wish we could do away with the "iTunes" store as the primary method of software purchase and installation. Seems very mishy-mashy compared to the uber-refined design of the iPad itself. Thanks Dave & Jordan for the comments. You didn't let technolust and Apple biases spoil your analysis. I also believe that the iPad is NOT a laptop replacement. It's a computer compliment like the Newton MessagePad. One 'real estate' use case that I think will help sell a lot of iPads is the option to use it to save a digital signature. ie. With a stylus, have your client sign a document right on the screen, thereby eliminating the need for paper, fax machines, etc. Sounds like a fair assessment.
